Ben Jordison has landed a two-year scholarship with Burnley F.C. on the back of our U16 Park View Recruitment Sessions which are for aspiring new players in Year 11.
Ben attended sessions both in January and February and showed promising ability which was noticed by Director of Football John Gamble who said:
"Ben was invited to our U16 Park View Recruitment sessions after I was notified by his P.E. teacher at Hurworth School of his ability. Ben impressed me in the sessions that he attended, and I felt he was at a level that could be of interest to professional clubs. With our partnership with Huddersfield Town, I contacted Lee Mellor who took Ben on trial to have a look, however, Huddersfield were not recruiting players in Ben's position. Following this I contacted the U18 manager Tony Philiskirk at Burnley a person I have a very good relationship with, to take a look at Ben. After a series of trials, Burnley offered him a two-year scholarship. This is fantastic for Ben and shows the links we have with the professional game."
Burnley U18 Academy Manager Anthony Philliskirk had the following to say about the signing of Ben:
"Ben was brought to our attention by Director of Football John Gamble at Park View Academy of Sport. John explained that Ben had shown good physical and technical ability in the sessions and that Huddersfield Town were interested. After Huddersfield had taken a look at Ben, and no longer wanted to pursue in signing him, we invited him down to Burnley for a trial. Ben gave a very good account of himself and we felt he would be a player we would like to work with."
Ben will officially sign for the club in June.
Ben becomes the 2nd player we have recommended to Burnley F.C. as in 2021 our student Harry Moss signed a two-year professional deal with the now Premier League club.
