Park View Cricket Academy in Chester-le-Street combines cricket training and education for students aged 16–19. Our partnership with Durham Cricket connects the programme with a county cricket environment at the Riverside.

Students develop their batting, bowling and fielding through coaching, practice and performance analysis, alongside strength and conditioning and their chosen education pathway. Explore the programme, facilities and example timetable below.

Former students have progressed into county cricket. Durham Cricket reported in May 2022 that Luke Robinson signed an Academy contract while studying at Park View. His story is one documented example of progression; a professional contract or selection is not guaranteed.

To discuss your cricket experience, qualification choices, current entry requirements and the application process, contact our Academy team or attend an open event.

PATHWAY INTO
PROFESSIONAL CRICKET

Develop your cricket alongside your studies at our North East sports academy. Coaching, practice, performance analysis and strength and conditioning support each player’s development, while education remains part of the programme.

In March 2026, The Cricketer highlighted former Park View players Ben McKinney, Mitchell Killeen, Luke Robinson and Laura Trotter and their progression into county cricket. The same report noted that former student Jack Brassell had represented Namibia at the T20 World Cup.

Durham Cricket’s May 2022 announcement provides a specific example: right-arm fast bowler Luke Robinson signed an Academy contract while studying at Park View at the Riverside. The report describes his work with the Park View coaching team and Durham’s development pathway.

Every player’s route is different. Discuss your experience and ambitions with our coaches, explore the education options, and check current entry requirements with the Academy team. Joining the programme does not guarantee a professional contract, county selection or a scholarship.

LUKE ROBINSON

DURHAM CRICKET

"My time at Park View was the perfect stepping stone into the professional game. The coaching, the facilities, and especially the opportunity to represent the Academy in high-level fixtures gave me the confidence to perform when it mattered. The staff invested in me as a person and a player, and that made all the difference. I wouldn’t be where I am today without that experience."

MITCHELL KILLEEN

DURHAM CRICKET

"At Park View, I trained like a professional every single day — whether it was batting, bowling, or strength and conditioning. The Academy’s structure and its connection with Durham meant I was always challenged, but also supported. It’s a place where cricket is taken seriously, and if you’re willing to work, the pathway is there. Without a doubt, Park View played a key role in my journey into the Durham squad."

COACHING

At Park View Cricket Academy, students benefit from elite-level coaching delivered in partnership with Durham Cricket, one of the leading county setups in the country.

As part of this unique collaboration, our players train regularly at the Seat Unique Riverside, the iconic home of Durham CCC.

Coaching sessions are led by ECB-qualified staff and structured to replicate the intensity and demands of the professional game. Players receive dedicated batting, bowling, and fielding instruction, as well as access to specialist coaching across all formats.

Training includes:

  • Net sessions on professional-grade wickets

  • One-to-one technical development

  • Bowling machine work and video analysis

  • Spin and seam bowling workshops

  • Scenario-based match simulations

  • Strength and conditioning programmes tailored to cricket

This comprehensive training programme is designed to maximise each player’s development, whether they are a top-order batter, pace bowler, spinner, or wicketkeeper. With regular feedback, individual development plans, and the opportunity to train alongside professional staff and players at Durham, our students are immersed in a high-performance environment from day one.

Our goal is simple: to develop intelligent, adaptable cricketers ready to take the next step—be that within the professional game, the county circuit, or on international scholarship pathways.

STRENGTH &
CONDITIONING

Untitled-1.png

At Park View Academy of Sport, our players benefit from a Premier League academy-standard performance gym — equipped by Perform Better, the official supplier to the England National Team. Our state-of-the-art facilities provide everything needed to help athletes progress physically and reach their full potential.

Our Strength & Conditioning programme is headed up by Martin Nugent Elite Performance (MNEP) — one of the UK’s leading high-performance specialists. Martin and his team bring vast experience working with elite-level athletes across professional football, athletics, rugby, and combat sports. His résumé includes working with Premier League and international footballers, Olympic medalists, and world-class performers such as Jordan Pickford, Steph Houghton, Beth Mead, and Patrick van Aanholt.

MNEP’s team of UKSCA-accredited, Master’s degree, and PhD-qualified coaches deliver tailored programmes for every player, focusing on developing strength, power, speed, and endurance — the physical attributes crucial to excelling at the highest levels of football.

The performance gym is fitted with cutting-edge technology, including VALD testing systems, Witty Timing Gates, and PASCO force plates, allowing our staff to monitor workloads, track performance data, and create evidence-based training programmes. Athletes also benefit from full and half racks, Olympic lifting platforms, and specialist tools such as the Eccentrix K-Box — designed to elevate eccentric strength and overall performance.

Every student-athlete follows a structured, position-specific training programme delivered by MNEP’s experienced coaches who understand the physical demands of the professional game. This ensures all players are physically prepared to perform and thrive both on and off the pitch.

PLAYER ANALYSIS &
REHABILITATION

Park View Academy of Sport prioritises the holistic development of its players through the strategic implementation of advanced technologies and dedicated support systems.

Performance analysis is enhanced through the use of FrogBox camera systems, providing automated recording, live streaming, and integrated match scoring for cricket fixtures. This enables a detailed review of individual and team performances, allowing players and coaches to analyse batting technique, bowling execution, and tactical decisions. The footage supports personalised feedback and remote sharing, making it an invaluable tool for continuous learning and player development.

In the event of injury,  players benefit from comprehensive rehabilitation programmes delivered by expert sports therapists and physiotherapists. These programmes are tailored to individual needs, employing modern facilities and a phased return-to-play approach, alongside education on injury prevention strategies.
