Park View Academy of Sport are today delighted to announce the launch of our Rugby Academy based at Emirates Riverside.
The aim of the academy is to establish itself as the number one rugby development centre in the North East where players can become student-athletes combining their academic pathway with professional rugby training.
Park View Academy of Sport is part of Park View Sixth form, which gives every student the best possible chance of success as they embark on what is a very exciting step in their life.
The Rugby Academy, aimed at 16-19-year olds, will see learners combine academic studies with progression within the game.
All learners receive 1.5 hours of daily, specialist coaching overseen by our experienced team. Players also receive additional strength and conditioning sessions and access to sports therapy and physiotherapy.
Alongside this, learners will undertake leadership training and qualifications in rugby.
The programme is aimed at rugby union and rugby league players. We aim to deliver sessions for men and women who seek to progress. The academy will work alongside local clubs to provide players with additional training.
Opportunities exist to play regular showcase games midweek during the day as well as accessing multiple tournaments and leagues.
Lewis Pendleton, Park View Academy Director of Sport said: “We are delighted to be adding Rugby to our growing set of academies. We seek to enhance our programme by working with the RFU and RFL on the rugby pathway.
“We have been discussing this project for a number of years, bringing it to the fore. We are looking forward to welcoming Rugby students to the world class Emirates Riverside.”
